When training camp began, reserve tight end Jerell Adams was considered a major long shot to make the Texans' roster.
Adams has made a convincing argument to be retained, though, based on his strong preseason.
Adams caught his second touchdown of the preseason Thursday night during a preseason finale against the Los Angeles Rams at NRG Stadium on a 5-yard pass from third quarterback Joe Webb.
Adams previously caught a touchdown pass against the Green Bay Packers to open the preseason.
If the Texans place rookie tight end Kahale Warring on injured reserve due to a concussion that has kept him out since a joint practice in Green Bay and keep four tight ends on the 53-man roster, Adams would earn one of the final spots on the team.
