Texans' Jadeveon Clowney given day off

Texans Pro Bowl defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was given a day off from practice Tuesday during an organized team activity, according to coach Bill O'Brien.

Clowney was at practice, but went inside after working on the side.

Clowney has been a regular participant in organized team activities.

Clowney transformed his reputation last season from an injury-prone disappointing former top overall pick into a disruptive run-stopper and pass rusher.

The Texans signaled their confidence in Clowney when they exercised a $13.846 million fifth-year club option for the 2018 season. He was named an All-Pro last season, recording 52 tackles, six sacks, 16 tackles for losses and 17 quarterback hits.
