When the Texans signed safety Quintin Demps during the middle of training camp, it was a transaction without fanfare.
Demps impressed Texans general manager Rick Smith with his speed by running the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds during his tryout prior to signing a one-year, $870,000 contract.
Demps ultimately emerged as a starter opposite Andre Hal during his second act with the Texans, starting a career-high 13 games and recorded 61 tackles, one interception, six passes defended, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
It was enough for the Texans to be interested in bringing back the 30-year-old unrestricted free agent.
