The field was littered with yellow flags Sunday at NRG Stadium, many of them tossed by the officials in the Texans' direction for various infractions.
The Texans were too slow to recognize how tightly referee Jeff Triplette and his crew would enforce certain calls during a 21-13 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
That included cornerback A.J. Bouye being flagged once for defensive holding to negate his interception and twice for illegal hands to the face.
Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was flagged once for a neutral-zone infraction and twice for offsides.
"We have to realize, I think, as coaches and players, how the game is being officiated right away, as soon as we can," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said Monday.
