The Texans have promoted Amy Palcic to senior director of communications.
Palcic, who was the team's director of corporate communications, will be the only woman in the NFL in charge of a communications department.
Palcic replaces Kevin Cooper, who resigned after the season to become senior director of communications for the Houston Super Bowl Committee.
Palcic, who was hired by Cooper in 2013, spent her first 10 years in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns. Her father was a football coach. She was one of three candidates who interviewed for the job.
"We promoted Amy because she was the most qualified," owner Bob McNair said.
