HOUSTON -- The Houston Texans are hiring Larry Izzo as their special-teams coordinator, replacing Bob Ligashesky, whom Texans coach Bill O'Brien fired earlier this week.
Izzo will have at least one familiar face on the Texans roster -- cornerback Charles James was with the New York Giants for part of the time Izzo was there. Izzo, a three-time Pro Bowler during a 13-season NFL career, was a special-teams assistant on the staff of former Giants coach Tom Coughlin. Coughlin stepped down after the 2015 season.
James was pleased with the news.
