HOUSTON -- The Houston Texans will likely pick an offensive player in the first round of the NFL draft Thursday, but general manager Rick Smith said he thinks Houston’s offense will be improved, regardless of whom the team drafts.
The Texans’ offense struggled mightily in 2016, finishing 31st in touchdowns and tied for 28th in points per game. In his pre-draft press conference, Smith said he thought the Texans did what they needed to do last offseason to improve the offense, and that he thinks those moves will finally pay off in 2017.
“That’s a lot of offensive firepower that we added to the football team last year.
