Erratic and inconsistent far too frequently, benched once for his tendency to force late throws and be intercepted, Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler struggled mightily last season.
Signed to a four-year, $72 million contract that included $37 million guaranteed, Osweiler was intercepted 16 times in the regular season and three more times in the Texans' AFC divisional-round loss to the New England Patriots.
One day after Texans owner Bob McNair emphasized that Osweiler needed to step up and that the AFC South champions would likely draft a quarterback and also stage a competition that includes backup Tom Savage, Texans general manager Rick Smith acknowledged the issue is a major priority for the franchise.
