The Texans’ quarterback situation is in a holding pattern, a fluid situation created by the inability of the offensive line to protect relatively stationary quarterback Tom Savage and the talent of precocious rookie Deshaun Watson.
The pending decision on who will start Thursday night against the Cincinnati Bengals has been further complicated by Watson’s right ankle injury suffered following an interception he threw Sunday in a 29-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Texans would elevate Watson into the starting lineup because of his superior mobility and ability to improvise if not for concerns about his health, according to sources not authorized to speak publicly.
