The Texans are expected to promote tight ends coach Tim Kelly to offensive coordinator, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.
Kelly was praised repeatedly all season by coach Bill O'Brien, who had operated as the offensive coordinator and called the plays as quarterback Deshaun Watson developed into a Pro Bowl alternate in his second NFL season.
The pending promotion, first reported by Sirius NFL Radio, hasn't been made official yet.
