The Texans displayed interest in Bucknell left tackle Julie'n Davenport throughout the draft process as offensive line coach Mike Devlin conducted a private workout with him at his school.
The Texans drafted Davenport in the fourth round Saturday.
The Texans needed reinforcements along their offensive line, particularly at the tackle position after starting right tackle Derek Newton tore both patellar tendons last season and isn't expected to play this year.
Davenport worked out for New England Patriots offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia, Dallas Cowboys offensive line coach Frank Pollack and Jacksonville Jaguars offensive line coach Pat Flaherty.
