Texans' D.J. Reader supports kidney disease research at charity event

Texans defensive lineman D.J. Reader once wore cleats with the words: "RIP David Reader, Sr." printed on them.

On Monday night, Reader saluted his father, who died from kidney disease, at a charity event at the Cambria Hotel Houston Downtown Convention Center. Reader attended a VIP Paint Night event, painting his own space-themed painting.

The hotel made a $10,000 donation to the National Kidney Foundation on behalf of Reader, who selected the charity.
