The approach that Texans offensive tackle Derek Newton is taking to the season-opener against the Chicago Bears is a simplistic one.
The right tackle is staying on the field as long as he can.
"I'm in there until coach takes me out," Newton said Wednesday after participating fully in practice. "If he doesn't take me out, I'm going to be out there with the guys."
Newton missed the entire preseason with a strained hamstring. If the Texans need to spell Newton, they have Kendall Lamm backing him up.
"It felt pretty good, still moving on up," Newton said.
