Standing in the pocket became a dangerous activity for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith, a man under siege Sunday as he was surrounded by a relentless defense.
Instead of enjoying their usual timing and chemistry, the Chiefs’ offense was rendered a disorganized outfit by the Texans and limited to just four field goals during a 19-12 victory at NRG Stadium.
“I thought we were very disruptive,” Texans outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney said. “We had them throwing the ball all over the place, causing turnovers, guys punching the ball loose, making plays.”
Smith was sacked four times, hit six times overall and lost two fumbles as he completed just 20 of 37 passes for 186 yards and no touchdowns for a 68.
