Texans deactivate Lamar Miller; Johnathan Joseph is active

The Texans made it official, deactivating starting running back Lamar Miller.

The Pro Bowl alternate will be replaced in the lineup by backup Alfred Blue with Jonathan Grimes and Akeem Hunt filling in, too.

Miller has a sprained ankle.

He is expected to be ready if needed next week.

Veteran corner Johnathan Joseph is active and returns after missing two games with cracked ribs and bruised lungs.

Starting outside linebackers Whitney Mercilus (back) and John Simon (chest) return from injuries. Simon missed the past four games.

The Texans also scratched rookie outside linebacker Brennan Scarlett, cornerback Denzel Rice, offensive linemen Josh Walker and Oday Aboushi, defensive end Ufomba Kamalu and third quarterback Brandon Weeden.
