Texans cut David Quessenberry with non-football injury designation

The Texans have released veteran offensive lineman David Quessenberry with a non-football injury designation, a precursor to him likely being placed on the non-football injury list after he clears waivers.

Quessenberry has battled non-Hodgins lymphoma for the past two seasons.

He endured months of intensive chemotherapy treatment and radiation therapy.

The offensive lineman spent the past two seasons on the non-football illness list, receiving the good news last year from his oncologist that his cancer was in remission.

Quessenberry has worked to regain his bulk and strength

He no longer requires radiation treatments, but does undergo chemotherapy once a month as part of a 30-month maintenance.
