The Texans will carry a total of $10.515 million in dead money by releasing veteran corner Aaron Colvin from his four-year, $34 million contract that included $18 million guaranteed.
Colvin, cut for performance issues after a rocky first season last year and allowing 8 of 9 completions for 117 yards and at least one touchdown in a loss to the Saints on Monday night, still gets paid the remainder of his fully guaranteed $7.5 million base salary this year.
The Texans now carry $8.656 million in salary-cap charges for the year for a player no longer on the roster.
