Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was under siege Sunday as the Texans employed a defensive alignment that allowed them to capitalize on the presence of three pass-rushing outside linebackers.
The Texans operated with outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney primarily lining up in a three-point stance as a traditional defensive end on the right side, utilizing his speed as a 6-5, 265-pound outside force. Clowney chased Cutler out of bounds for a sack and had four tackles and three quarterback hits.
Ranked third in total defense last season, the Texans finished with five sacks and eight quarterback hits Sunday.
