INDIANAPOLIS – In his first season as the Texans' coach, Bill O'Brien called the plays and did not have an offensive coordinator.
After that season, quarterbacks coach George Godsey was promoted to offensive coordinator and called the plays.
With Godsey out of the picture, O'Brien is calling the plays again. He moved Sean Ryan from receivers to quarterbacks. During his nine seasons with the New York Giants, Ryan coached quarterbacks for three years.
At some point, O'Brien could promote Ryan and allow him to call plays.
"I think Sean could probably call the plays right now, but I think it's important for me to take a little bit more ownership of this offense," O'Brien said.
