During the Texans' day off Tuesday, punter Trevor Daniel lost his job.
The Texans ended Daniel's employment after one season and two games after he got off to a rough start.
Daniel beat out seven-time Pro Bowl punter Shane Lechler last season, but averaged just 43.5 yards per punt and only placed two inside opponents' 20-yard line.
Daniel was replaced by Bryan Anger, a former Jacksonville Jaguars third-round draft pick who has a 46.2 career average. Anger worked out for the Texans on Tuesday along with former Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos punter Marquette King.
"Tough decision," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said.
