Texans' Bill O'Brien expected to be primary playcaller working in tandem with Tim Kelly

For years, Texans coach Bill O'Brien has been complimentary of Tim Kelly's football acumen and work ethic.

O'Brien promoted the 32-year-old former Penn State graduate assistant from tight ends coach to offensive coordinator this offseason.

Kelly called the majority of the plays during the preseason, but O'Brien is expected to be the primary playcaller and decision-maker during the regular season about the direction of the offense. Kelly will have a lot of input as far as building game plans, suggesting plays and will likely wind up calling more plays during the season while learning on the job as a rookie offensive coordinator.
