INDIANAPOLIS -- Motivated by a desire for a temperate climate than the frequently oppressive Texas heat and wanting to build camaraderie, Texans coach Bill O'Brien is taking his team on the road for training camp.
The Texans are holding the majority of their camp at the ultra-posh Greenbrier Resort in Sulpher Springs, W. Va. The average temperature in August there is 82 degrees.
"I think it wasn't just me," O'Brien said Wednesday at the NFL scouting combine. "I think it was an organizational decision that we felt was best for our team just for the fact of being able to go to a place that might be a little bit cooler at that time of the year, being able to go to a place where my first three years here we've gone away to scrimmage teams and they've been really good bonding experiences for our team, good chemistry type experiences for our team, whether we went to Denver our first year or Washington our second year.
