The rigors of the NFL season have been particularly trying for the Texans' cornerback position.
Attrition has taken a toll with two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Johnathan Joseph the latest to get hurt. Joseph is in a walking boot after injuring his left ankle against the Miami Dolphins, a setback that coach Bill OBrien isn't expected to be a long-term injury as they await more information.
When Joseph got hurt, the Texans were forced to insert undrafted rookie safety Natrell Jamerson at cornerback.
O'Brien is hopeful that starting cornerback Aaron Colvin, signed to a four-year, $34 million contract and out for the past month with an ankle injury, could return following the bye week after next week's game against the Denver Broncos.
