The Texans were awarded running back Andre Ellington off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.
Ellington is the cousin of Texans wide receiver Bruce Ellington and a former Cardinals sixth-round draft pick from Clemson.
Ellington has 53 yards on 15 carries this season and 33 catches for 297 yards.
Ellington rushed for 652 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie and caught 39 passes for 371 yards and one score. He was placed on injured reserve his second NFL season.
The 5-9, 199-pounder rushed for 96 yards last season and caught 12 passes for 85 yards.
