NEW ORLEANS - Texans backup running back Alfred Blue suffered a high-ankle sprain during a joint practice session with the New Orleans Saints, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.

The hope is that the 6-2, 225-pound former LSU standout will be able to return soon, but when Blue will return is undetermined.

Blue had been having an impressive preseason until this injury, which is expected to sideline him for at least the remainder of the preseason.

During the Texans' preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers, Blue had a 16-yard touchdown run. He rushed for with 33 yards on five carries and was the first back into the game.
