Texans' Akeem Dent under NFL concussion protocol

ARLINGTON -- Texans veteran inside linebacker Akeem Dent got shaken up against the Dallas Cowboys, suffering a concussion Thursday night at AT&T Stadium.

Dent is now under the mandatory NFL concussion protocol. He must pass a baseline neurological exam before he can be medically cleared to return to practice.

Dent rejoined the Texans last year after being acquired by the AFC South club via a trade from the Atlanta Falcons two years ago.

Dent is a former Falcons third-round draft pick from Georgia.

Dent played in 12 games last season with two starts and had 10 tackles, two quarterback hits, one tackle for a loss and eight special-teams tackles.
