The Orlando Apollos scored 20 unanswered points to come from behind and beat the San Antonio Commanders 37-29 on Sunday in the Alamodome.
The Commanders drop to 1-1 in the franchise’s second game, played in front of 29,176 fans.
San Antonio led 12-0 at the end of a dominant first quarter in which the Commanders outgained the Apollos 118-4 and held the ball for 13 minutes. Kenneth Farrow ran in the game’s first score from 15 yards out, and Evan Rodriguez hauled in a 1-yard pass from Logan Woodside on the final play of the quarter.
The Apollos and quarterback Garrett Gilbert hit their stride in the second quarter, as Gilbert threw for 214 yards in the period.
