HOUSTON -- Quarterback Ryan Mallett filed for termination pay from the Houston Texans and he'll receive $1.472177 million, according to a source.
That money is the remainder of his salary from this year. Players can only use it once in their career, and it's usually only wise to use it in a situation when a player does not expect to receive a contract as large again in the future.
Mallett's full contract was worth $7 million over two years and had $1.75 million guaranteed. He had up to $1 million in roster bonuses, which were paid on a week-to-week basis.
