Connor Cook, who made his NFL debut as a starter with the Raiders in a January 2017 playoff game against the Texas, is headed to Houston as the first player selected by the Houston Roughnecks in Tuesday’s XFL draft.
Cook, a three-year starter at Michigan State who in addition to his time with the Raiders was on the Panthers’ and Bengals’ practice squads, was among 30 draft choices announced by the Roughnecks, one of eight teams that will begin play next February in the XFL, which is owned by World Wrestling Entertainment chairman Vince McMahon.
Each of the eight teams selected players in three segments – skill players, offensive linemen and defensive seven.
