ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported late Thursday night the former Denver Broncos defensive coordinator agreed to terms to assume the same position for the Los Angeles Rams. The report came just before 9 p.m., hours after the team announced it hired Sean McVay as its new head coach. It was followed up with a report from the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Next season will be the 39th in the league for Phillips, a Port Neches-Groves High School graduate, whose recent two-year stint with the Broncos included the Super Bowl 50 title run.
