Despite signing former Raiders center Tony Bergstrom to a two-year deal worth nearly six million dollars just last offseason, the Texans have now officially parted ways with the embattled offensive lineman.
Bergstrom was initially seen as a backup to 2016 second round pick Nick Martin, but after Martin went down with a season-ending ankle injury, Bergstrom was thrust into spot duty alongside fellow backup center Greg Mancz. Let’s just say that the results were less than impressive.
Martin’s presumptive return to the lineup in his sophomore season paves the way for the Texans to shrink their depth chart back down to two players at the pivot.
