Report: Late Oilers QB Ken Stabler had 'moderately severe' brain disease

The late Oilers quarterback Ken Stabler had the degenerative brain disease that's believed to be caused by repeated blow to the head, according to a report Wednesday.

The New York Times reported that Stabler had high Stage 3 chronic traumatic encephalopathy (C.T.E.). Stabler died July 8 of colon cancer at 69.

Stabler, who is one of two senior nominees for this year's Pro Football Hall of Fame class, joins more than 100 former players who've been diagnosed with C.T.E.
