Indeed, Buddy's single-season run as the Houston Oilers' defensive coordinator was memorable, but not only because he threw a punch at Kevin Gilbride. Likewise, Buddy Ryan's coaching career in the NFL was noteworthy for the breadth of his accomplishments, from commanding arguably the greatest defense of all time with the Chicago Bears in 1985, to his tenure as the head coach with the Philadelphia Eagles, to his time as the head coach/general manager of the Arizona Cardinals.
