Rick Smith became the Houston Texans' general manager after the 2006 NFL Draft, so he's currently preparing for his 11th draft class in Houston.
Although Smith catches a lot of heat, he's had some draft success. He was around when the Texans grabbed J.J. Watt with the 11th pick in the 2011 draft. He also can be credited with a draft steal by getting Whitney Mercilus at No. 26 in 2012. Yes, we know many people credit then-defensive coordinator Wade Phillips with both selections, but Smith was the man in charge.
Of course, he also has had some stinkers - cover your eyes when you look at his 2007 draft class that yielded Jacoby Jones and not a lot else.
