Raiders' Derek Carr becomes NFL's highest paid player

Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr cashed in Thursday morning, becoming the highest paid player in the NFL.

Carr signed a five-year, $125 million contract worth $25 million per year. That eclipses Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck's contract in terms of average money per year.

Last year, Luck signed a five-year, $122.97 million contract that included $87 million guaranteed and an average annual compensation of $24.594 million.

Of course, Carr's deal could eventually be trumped by potential pending contracts for Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins and Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.
