Getting benched is a common occurrence in professional sports, but it doesn't happen to healthy NFL quarterbacks in the middle of a season all that often.
And, when it does happen, it often signals the beginning of the end of that quarterback's career.
At only 26 years old, Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler should still have a long career in front of him, but his benching in the middle of Sunday's game isn't a good sign.
Kurt Warner is an example of a quarterback benched midseason twice - in St. Louis and New York - who still bounced back and had more successful seasons as a starter.
