The NFL committee presiding over opportunities for relocation to Los Angeles recommended the $1.7 billion Carson stadium site planned to be shared by the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders.
It was a 5-1 vote for the open-air stadium. Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt was the lone dissenter.
A competing $1.86 billion stadium project in Inglewood orchestrated by St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke, one of the wealthiest owners in the NFL and the owner of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche and the NBA's Denver Nuggets, was the other proposal submitted.
It's a strong recommendation by the influential committee, which includes Texans owner Bob McNair.
