NFL awards 2017 Pro Bowl to Orlando over Houston

The NFL made it official Wednesday, awarding the 2017 Pro Bowl to Orlando.

Houston was among the cities along with Honolulu and Sydney that had made a formal bid to host the annual all-star game in advance of the Super Bowl to be held next February at NRG Stadium. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner had expressed hope earlier this year that the NFL might hold the annual all-star game in Houston.

Ultimately, the NFL opted to hold the Pro Bowl at the refurbished Citrus Bowl, which has undergone $200 million worth of upgrades.
