New documentary credits 1970s Oilers for Houston's national rise

The Houston Oilers lost the AFC Championship in Pittsburgh on Jan. 6, 1980, the second straight year in which the Oilers -- led by head coach Bum Phillips -- fell one game short of the franchise's first Super Bowl appearance. The scene at the Astrodome one day later was reminiscent of a championship celebration in what was then Houston's most famous landmark.

"There's a huge kind of climax of the film when the team comes back [after losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers]," David Hartstein, co-director of the documentary Luv Ya, Bum, told Chron.
