Mike Vrabel hired as Titans’ head coach

According to multiple sources, Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel has become the head coach of the Tennessee Titans.

Vrabel was the team’s defensive coordinator for one season with the Texans but joined the Texans’ coaching staff as the linebackers coach in 2014 as part of Bill O’Brien’s crew. The team promoted Vrabel to the defensive coordinator position last offseason after the 49ers looked to promote him to become their DC.

The 14-year NFL vet interviewed for several head coaching openings, including the Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts, but the one that he accepts is the one that came the latest, as Tennessee chose to mutually part ways with former head coach Mike Mularkey following their Divisional Round loss to the Patriots a week ago.
