INDIANAPOLIS -- A recurring back injury that required a pair of microdiscectomy procedures to repair a herniated disk derailed Texans star defensive end J.J. Watt's season.
The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year declared during the Super Bowl that he expects to be able to fully participate in offseason activities, a positive medical outlook that dovetails with the reports received by Texans coach Bill O'Brien.
The Texans and Watt are hoping for a resurgent, healthy season for Watt after he was limited to three games last season before being placed on injured reserve.
"J.J.'s doing well," O'Brien said Wednesday at the NFL scouting combine.
