Is Dallas v. Houston a rivalry game? It’s a question I’ve been asked multiple times this week. My answer each time as a neutral viewer who lives in San Antonio’s banal goop has been the same. No. This game happens once every four years. It’s like saying Sweden and the Czech Republic have an olympic hockey rivalry. I mean, I don’t know if they do, but you know what I mean. It’s cute. It’s a novelty. It’s not something I really care about. It’s a rivalry in the way that people from Dallas hate people from Houston and vice versa.
