Matt Rhule leaving Baylor for Panthers job

Matt Rhule, who engineered an astounding comeback at the helm of the Baylor football program, has reached agreement to become the head coach of the Carolina Panthers, according to multiple reports.

Rhule took over at Baylor a season after the sexual assault scandal that resulted in the firing of Art Briles. Rhule went 1-11 in his first season in 2017 then 7-6 in his second season and 11-3 this season with a trip to the Sugar Bowl.

The 44-year-old Rhule had been rumored to be in the running for both the Panthers and Giants jobs.

Rhule has a bit of NFL experience, serving as the Giants offensive line coach in 2012 before taking the head coaching job at Temple, where Rhule went 28-23 in four seasons.
