While John McClain was hard at work Tuesday, interviewing Texans coaches as part of his duties for the Chronicle, his colleagues selected him for induction into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco.
McClain, 67, was among eight writers and broadcasters who will be honored later this year by the Hall of Fame. The eight honorees are the first media representatives selected for induction into the state hall since 2004.
The longtime Chronicle reporter normally attends the Hall of Fame selection committee’s meeting in Waco each June. This week, however, McClain was absent as he was selected in his own right for an honor he will hold dear to his heart.
