Jason Witten ends retirement, returning to Cowboys

Jason Witten is leaving the Monday Night Football broadcast booth and returning to the playing field, announcing Thursday that he's ending his retirement and returning to the Cowboys as a player.

Witten retired from the NFL last May after 15 seasons with the Cowboys that included 11 Pro Bowls and joined ESPN as part of the Monday Night Football broadcast team.

"The fire inside of me to compete and play this game is just burning too strong," Witten said in a statement. "This team has a great group of rising young stars, and I want to help them make a run at a championship.
