HOUSTON -- When the 3 p.m. central deadline passed this Saturday, Greg Mancz got a call from his agent.

Go ahead and call your mom, his agent said. Though the waiver system could have changed his fate, Mancz had made the Texans initial 53-man roster, as an undrafted rookie out of Toledo.
