HOUSTON — Houston Texans rookie cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. smiled as he recalled a standout introductory moment to the NFL.
It was third-and-goal with 10:53 remaining against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1, with the Texans leading 20-3, and the rookie was matched up against wideout Alec Pierce.
Pierce ran an out route in the end zone, and Stingley gave him zero room.
Colts quarterback Matt Ryan maneuvered in the pocket to buy extra time. Pierce cut back inside, and Ryan tried to squeeze in a pass.
