How does Barkevious Mingo exit affect the Texans?

There will be another player from the AFC South championship team from this past season not on the Houston Texans roster in 2020, and that player is reserve linebacker Barkevious Mingo. The Texans received Mingo, Jacob Martin and a third round pick from the 2020 NFL Draft for Jadeveon Clowney last offseason.

Mingo instead signed with the Chicago Bears for a one-year deal worth $1.187 million, and as the Houston Chronicle reported, $887,000 of that amount is guaranteed.

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle wrote the following about the Mingo deal with the Bears:

“The Texans maintained interest in Mingo during the process, including a contract offer, but the Bears ultimately stepped up to get the deal done.
