The Texans have one solidified force at the safety position in Justin Reid and that’s it. Eric Murray has done everything from play strong safety to slot corner, but never found a position he’s actually competent at playing in Houston. A.J. Moore and Lonnie Johnson have found time at safety as well, with Moore playing the third safety position in certain defensive sets, and Lonnie standing deep middle with his hands in his pocket, who has now spent more time playing as a robber recently.
With this position still needing a talent influx, despite having a substantial investment into it, Houston put in a claim for the recently released Geno Stone, and was awarded him yesterday.
