Bill O’Brien has penned the latest chapter in his personnel management tome, tentatively titled “Always Doing What’s Best For The Team.” Your Houston Texans have cut Trevor Daniel and brought Bryan Anger, who was with the team throughout the preseason, back to be their punter moving forward.
Daniel, you might remember, was the plucky undrafted rookie free agent punter who beat Shane Lechler out in 2018, which resulted in the likely future Hall of Famer getting cut himself and effectively retiring. I thought Daniel acquitted himself well last year, but he hadn’t been nearly as impressive in the subsequent exhibition season or the first two games of 2019; he seemed particularly ineffective in last week’s win over the Jaguars.
